ELLERY, NY (CCS-TV) — The Chautauqua County Department of Emergency Services has launched a vital initiative to enhance emergency preparedness in schools across the district. Beginning next school year, every school in Chautauqua County will be equipped with three “Stop the Bleed” kits, generously provided by the Chautauqua Regional and Northern Chautauqua County Community Foundations.
These life-saving kits contain essential supplies for emergency care, suitable for use by both adults and children. The initiative aims to ensure that schools are prepared to respond effectively to bleeding emergencies, potentially saving lives.
The community has warmly welcomed this initiative. Maggie Gustafson, a school nurse, expressed her gratitude, stating, “As a parent who lives and works in this community, I am so thankful to raise my family in a district and community that takes safety and emergency preparedness so seriously.”
The kits will be distributed to all schools in Chautauqua County this summer. Each school will receive three kits and will participate in mandatory training sessions to ensure staff are well-prepared for the new school year. This proactive approach underscores the county’s commitment to the safety and well-being of its students and staff.
