JAMESTOWN, NY (CCS-TV) — In a significant effort to enhance suicide prevention, the City of Jamestown has introduced new signage featuring the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline on the Third Street Bridge and various locations throughout the city.

These signs are designed to be a beacon of hope and support, offering immediate resources for individuals in distress. The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline provides compassionate care and essential support, ensuring that those in need receive help when they need it most. By installing these signs, Jamestown aims to remind residents that they are not alone and that help is readily available.

The unveiling ceremony, held on the Third Street Bridge, was marked by a heartfelt address from Mayor Kimberly Ecklund, who spoke about the personal impact of suicide, reflecting on the tragic death of her nephew, Ryan Michael, in 2020.

In addition to the 988 Lifeline, other crucial resources include the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and the Chautauqua County 24/7 Crisis Hotline. Local organizations such as the Mental Health Association and the Suicide Prevention Alliance of Chautauqua County offer further assistance through support groups and various services.
