JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — The holiday season will once again come to life in Downtown Jamestown when the 2026 Jamestown NY Holiday Parade takes place Saturday, December 5, at 6 p.m.
This year’s parade theme, “A Very Merry Journey Through Time,” will celebrate the holiday traditions of the past while looking toward the future. The theme also ties into the nation’s upcoming 250th Anniversary celebration and Jamestown’s history as the first village recognized in Chautauqua County, with the community preparing to mark the 200th anniversary of that designation in 2027.
Parade participants are encouraged to bring the theme to life through creative floats and displays inspired by different eras.
Ideas could include classic holiday carols, Christmas decorations and toys, beloved holiday movies, vintage department store Christmas windows, favorite television shows and longtime holiday traditions. Participants can also look toward the future with floats highlighting new technology, modern trends and evolving holiday traditions.
Organizers say the possibilities are endless and are looking forward to seeing the creative ideas that parade participants develop for this year’s celebration.
The parade will also feature the return of a popular tradition: the Float Contest.
The 2026 parade committee is bringing back the competition with multiple winners, giving participants another opportunity to showcase their creativity and craftsmanship. Details about contest categories, prizes and judging will be announced at a later date.
The evening will conclude with a fireworks spectacular from Tracy Plaza, featuring a special patriotic touch as part of the community’s celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary.
